Donald Trump Threatens 10 % Tariff Rise After Canadian TV Ad
Ontario aired an ad in the U.S. featuring a 1987 clip of Ronald Reagan warning against tariffs. President Trump didn’t like it. He called the ad “fake,” accused Canada of interfering in U.S. policy, and announced a 10% tariff on Canadian imports.
Canadian PM Mark Carney tried to calm things down, saying trade talks will continue. Ontario Premier Doug Ford defended the ad, saying it “reached over a billion views.”
Bottom line: A one-minute TV ad just sparked a real-world trade war. Good business lesson here for all of us.
